Rubbish rules for New Year period
Different rubbish containers will be locked shut just before the end of the year. This should help prevent fire and damage. You will not be able to use these containers. Read what you can do with your rubbish.
Containers
You will not be able to use the following containers in the New Year period:
- All containers for paper and plastic packaging, tin and drink cartons (pmd) will be sealed off on Tuesday, 31 December 2024.
- All containers for textiles. These will be locked from Friday, 27 December 2024 to Thursday, 2 January 2025.
- Different underground rubbish containers. These will be closed on Tuesday, 31 December.
- Certain aboveground containers. These will be removed before the end of the year and put back into place in the new year.
What can you do with your rubbish?
- Dispose of your rubbish on time.
- Do not leave any rubbish next to sealed containers. If you do, there is a greater risk of fire and damage.
- Household waste, organic waste (GFT) and plastic packaging, metal packaging and drink cartons (PMD) will not be collected from households during the holidays, but on a different day.
- Old paper will not be collected from households between Mondag, 23 December 2024 and Friday, 3 January 2025.

Bulky waste
Do you have bulky waste? The municipality will not be collecting bulky waste from Wednesday, 25 December 2024 to Sunday, 5 January 2025. You can dispose of your waste yourself at a waste depot. Grease and oil
Would you like to dispose of your used grease or frying oil? You can put used frying oil and grease in a plastic bottle or other plastic packaging and bring it to:

Clean-up campaign on 1 January
The municipality will get to work in the new year to get the streets cleaned up again. Many residents pitch in by sweeping their sidewalk or street. Would you also like to help?
Good to know
- Firework debris can go in the household waste.
- Be extra cautious with fireworks which have not gone off. To be on the safe side: make the firework debris wet before putting it in the garbage bag.
