Paid parking on the street at New Year’s
On 31 December 2024 (New Year’s Eve) and 1 January 2025 (New Year’s Day) the usual rules are in effect for paid parking. Wherever you normally have to pay for a parking spot, you will also have to pay at New Year’s.
To prevent damage from fireworks the parking meters will be partially covered. You will not be able to get a receipt. The parking meters will be in operation. You will see the payment on your bank statement. You do not have to place a paper parking ticket behind your windscreen. A scan car will check number plates of the cars parked on the street.
Parking meters sealed
30 to 40 parking meters will be completely sealed off on New Year’s Eve. You will therefore not be able to use the parking meter to pay. You can still pay using a Begin link: parking app, end link. on your Begin link: mobile telephone., end link.
Damage and costs
Each year during New Year’s parking meters are damaged because of fireworks and arson (fires). A new parking meter costs approximately € 15,000.
