Challenge a parking ticket
Did you get a parking ticket (naheffingsaanslag)? And do you disagree with it? Then you can challenge the ticket by sending an objection to the municipality.
How it works
You must send your objection within 6 weeks after the date on the parking ticket (dagtekening). Are you sending it later? Then explain why you could not do it earlier.
What you need
To challenge the ticket, you need:
- The number of the parking ticket (assessment number)
- The number plate of your car
- The registration number of your parking permit
- Supporting evidence, such as:
- A digital overview of your parking history
- A scan or digital photo of your parking permit
- A scan or digital photo of your proof of payment, or a copy of your bank statement
- A digital overview of mobile parking payments
- Proof of emergency assistance
- A police report if your car was stolen

Online: view, pay or challenge
Go to the digital form. There you can:
- view your parking ticket
- pay your parking ticket
- challenge your parking ticket
By post: send a letter
You can also send a letter of objection (bezwaarschrift) to the Begin link: municipality, end link. . Include:
- The number of the parking ticket (assessment number)
- The date and time you parked
- The name and contact details of the person who parked the car and the person making the objection (if different)
- The number plate of the car
- The reason(s) for your objection
- Your signature
- Supporting evidence (see Begin link: Needed to challenge the ticket, end link. ).
How long it takes
- Online: You get a confirmation email right away.
- By post: You get a confirmation within 1 week.
The municipality aims to decide within 10 weeks. You will receive a message with the outcome. You do not have to pay the fine until you get the decision.
