A general disabled parking space is a parking place where any vehicle with a disabled parking card may park without paying.
- The general disabled parking space is not linked to 1 specific number plate or vehicle.
- Other vehicles are not permitted to park in a general disabled parking space during the times it is in effect. These times are stated on the sign by the parking space.
- The general disabled parking space is often found nearby public buildings, shopping centres or medical facilities like a doctor’s office or physiotherapist.

Before the municipality creates a general disabled parking space, it will look at the following points:
- the days and times when the general disabled parking space needs to be used
- the presence of an already existing general disabled parking space in the immediate vicinity
- the availability of parking in the immediate vicinity
The road authority in the city district will create the general disabled parking space by placing a traffic sign next to the space. The sign indicates the days and times when the general disabled parking space is in effect. The road will also get markings.
