Apply for parking permit for residents
Do you live in an area with paid parking? If you have a parking permit, you do not have to pay each time.
Conditions

You live in The Hague and are registered at the address where you want the resident parking permit.

You own a car or microcar.

You do not live in these areas: Palaceplein, Energiekwartier or CS-Oost / Grotiusplaats. Read more under Begin link: Frequently asked questions, end link. .

Your building allows resident parking permits. Begin link: Some residential buildings do not allow this, end link. (information is in Dutch).

You cannot park on your own property. If you have private parking, you cannot get a permit. Read more about Begin link: parking on your own property, end link. (in Dutch).

You can get up to 3 resident parking permits per address.

Extra documents
In the following cases you will need to submit extra documents. Click on the topic below to see what you need:
Do you drive a lease car? Then you also need your lease contract. This contract must have your name on it.
Do you drive a company car? Then you also need a letter from your employer. The letter must state:
- You need the car for your work at least 3 months
- The car’s number plate
- The period of time you will use the car
Is the car owned by a lease company? Then you also need a letter from the lease company and your employer. Send this letter too.
Do you drive a car with a number plate from another country? Then send a copy of your car’s registration papers.

You can pick the date your parking permit starts. How fast you get it depends on how you pay.

The length of time your permit is valid depends on where you live and when your permit starts.
Below you can see how long the permit is valid in each area:
- 1 February to 31 January: Laakkwartier, Laakhaven, Rustenburg-Oostbroek and Valkenboskwartier.
- 1 March until the last day of February: Centrum, Centrum-Zuid and Scheveningen/Duindorp.
- 1 April to 31 March: Archipel/Zorgvliet, Vogelwijk-Noord, Benoordenhout and Bezuidenhout.
- 1 July to 30 June: Bomenbuurt/Regentessekwartier, Moerwijk Noord-Oost and Leyenburg.
- 1 October to 30 September: Geuzen- en Statenkwartier/Duinoord, Heesterbuurt and Noten-Vruchtenbuurt-Bloemenbuurt.
- 1 November to 31 October: De Venen, Leyweg shopping area, Morgenstond and Transvaal.
- 1 December to 30 November: Binckhorst
Are you applying for a permit? The fee may be different from the amounts shown above. You only pay for the time left in the current permit period. Is this period shorter than 2 months? Then you will also pay for the next permit year right away.
You may be able to apply for a special parking permit for disabled residents. This permit allows you to park in all paid parking spaces in The Hague. You can find more information on the page Begin link: Apply for disabled resident’s parking permit, end link. .
There can be different reasons for this:
- You do not meet the conditions.
- You still need to pay for your old permit.
- You can park on your own property. In that case, you usually cannot get a permit.
- You live in an area where permits are not given. These areas are easy to reach by public transport. Or they are within cycling distance from the city centre or a train station.
