Registration procedures for international students

International students who will be staying in The Hague for longer than 4 months are required to register in the municipality’s Personal Records Database (BRP). They will then get a citizen service number (BSN).

Students from all universities (wo) and universities of applied sciences (hbo) can make an appointment to register if they will be living in The Hague. Make an appointment to register if you do not yet have a BSN by going to the page Begin link: Moving and immigration, end link. .

Will you be staying in the Netherlands for less than 4 months? Then you can request a BSN by Begin link: registering as a non-resident of the Netherlands (RNI), end link. .

Citizen service number (BSN)

Students will receive a Begin link: citizen service number (burgerservicenummer, BSN, end link. ) during their registration appointment. This number is needed to arrange all kinds of formalities, such as opening a bank account or getting health insurance.

Moving and deregistration
