Voting as a Dutch voter abroad
The standard way of voting for Dutch voters abroad is to vote by post. The postal voting slip will be sent by post to the Netherlands Representative Office 12 weeks prior to an election. You will need to collect it there yourself. You will be notified when your postal voting slip is ready to be picked up.
The ballot will be sent approximately 4 weeks before the election (this will not be ready earlier). You will receive a notifiction from the Netherlands Representative Office that you can pick up your ballot there. You can fill in your ballot at the Netherlands Representative Office and hand in your vote there in the sealed envelope. This way you know for sure that you have sent back your ballot on time.
Voting by proxy or with a voter card
You can authorise somebody to vote on your behalf through a proxy. You need to request a new proxy for each new election.
It is also possible to cast your own vote on election day at a Dutch polling station (also in Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba). You do this using a voter card (kiezerspas). You need to request a new voter card for each new election.
