Register children adopted in the Netherlands
If you have adopted a child in the Netherlands, then you need to register him with the municipality. The adopted child will then be recorded in the Personal Records Database (BRP).
Your adopted child was born in The Hague
Was your adopted child born in the Municipality of The Hague and are you already registered in the Personal Records Database (BRP)? The municipality will be informed of the adoption via the court. The municipality will process the court ruling in the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriage and will add a later statement of adoption to the birth certificate of your adopted child.
Your adopted child was not born in The Hague
First register your adopted child at your address in the Personal Records Database (BRP). Is the adoption ruling definite? Then the municipality in which your child was born will add a later statement of adoption to the birth certificate. A copy of this birth certificate will be sent to the Municipality of The Hague. The municipality will process the information in the BRP.
