Are you renting from a private landlord?

Then you can report this to the municipality. Is the rent indeed too high? Then the municipality can:

  • force your landlord to lower the rent
  • give your landlord a warning or fine

The municipality cannot arrange for you to get back the amount of rent you overpaid.

  3. Talk first with your landlord

  4. Report an unfairly high rent to the municipality

You will receive a confirmation of your report. The municipality will assess your report as quickly as possible. It is thus important that the information you submit is clear and complete. The municipality is unable to check or solve all complaints. It always takes action when there are reports of serious situations.
