Report an unfairly high rent

Are you renting from a private landlord?

Then you can report this to the municipality. Is the rent indeed too high? Then the municipality can:
- force your landlord to lower the rent
- give your landlord a warning or fine
The municipality cannot arrange for you to get back the amount of rent you overpaid.

You will receive a confirmation of your report. The municipality will assess your report as quickly as possible. It is thus important that the information you submit is clear and complete. The municipality is unable to check or solve all complaints. It always takes action when there are reports of serious situations.
The municipality will discuss with you how it can solve the situation. The time that this will take depends on the situation. If it is not very urgent, the municipality will check the report later. A case file sometimes needs to be made. If so, this will take more time.
