Starting in September 2025, the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs of the University of Leiden will offer the bachelor’s programme in Cybersecurity & Cybercrime. This new multidisciplinary programme trains students to become versatile cyber experts.

The new programme is designed to align with the growing need for cyber experts. With cyber incidents becoming a question of ‘when’ rather than ‘if,’ the course will not only focus on prevention and management but also on learning from past incidents.

TU Delft has a new online course on Economics of Cybersecurity: Foundation and Measurement, starting 2 October 2024. This course will focus on why cybersecurity failures occur and recur in organisations and how to remediate them. In this course you will learn to:

  • Explain why certain security failures occur and persist in organizations
  • Identify the incentives that can help prevent security failures
  • Use a causal framework for security incidents that helps to develop metrics for the factors that increase or decrease the risk of failure
  • Distinguish supposed “best practices” from actual evidence on which security measures are effective
